The final weekend of June marks a vibrant conclusion to the month in Trieste, as Trieste Estate 2025 presents three days of diverse cultural programming set against the backdrop of the city’s evocative and lesser-known locations.

The festivities begin on Saturday, June 28, at 5:00 p.m. with Cubismo Sonoro, a musical performance organized by Triesteclassica as part of the Triesteclassica Sintesie festival. The concert will be held at Palazzo Vivante, a 19th-century residence that once housed members of Trieste’s upper bourgeoisie and has, since 1947, served as the headquarters of Opera Figli del Popolo, an organization devoted to youth education and support.

In Cubismo Sonoro, four musicians—on flute, violin, viola, and cello—reinterpret Mozart through a deconstructive lens, rendering the classical composer’s work more accessible by breaking down and reconstructing his quartets. The performance offers a playful and analytical approach to the so-called “New Mozart Quartets,” emphasizing individual voices, sounds, and tonal colors to reveal the underlying unity of the compositions.

Later the same evening, the ShorTS International Film Festival hosts a double feature at two central venues. At 7:00 p.m., Teatro Miela welcomes the public for the Prospettiva 2025 award ceremony honoring emerging Italian actor Francesco Gheghi. The event includes an open masterclass led by Gheghi himself, followed by the screening of La Buona Condotta, a short film exploring themes of discipline and empathy in a school setting.

At 9:15 p.m., the festival continues at the nearby Giardino Pubblico Muzio de Tommasini—a park with literary ties to the Triestine novel La Coscienza di Zeno—for an open-air screening. Additional programming details for Sunday and Monday are expected to follow, continuing the celebration of music, cinema, and the city’s architectural heritage.

With its blend of classical reinterpretation and contemporary cinema, Trieste Estate 2025 closes June on a note that is both reflective and forward-looking, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore the cultural richness embedded in the city’s historic spaces.
