The annual Fieste da Sedon will return on Sunday, June 1, offering an afternoon devoted entirely to traditional Friulian folk music. Set against the backdrop of Ragogna Castle—a symbol of the region’s post-earthquake heritage reconstruction overlooking the Tagliamento River—the event promises a blend of culture, history, and natural beauty.
Recognized as one of the leading festivals dedicated to Friulian folk music, Fieste da Sedon serves as a natural prelude to the internationally renowned Folkest festival. The day will begin with a series of talks and workshops led by three prominent figures in the local music scene: Lino Straulino, Dario Marusic, and Andrea Del Favero. These sessions, aimed at both musicians and enthusiasts, will offer space for dialogue and exploration of regional musical traditions.
The morning programming is organized as part of the activities of the Academiuta di Musiche e Culture Popolâr da Glauco, in collaboration with the Associazione Musicale Gottardo Tomat of Spilimbergo and Associazione Furclap of Udine. The initiative is hosted in the historic castle thanks to the support of the Municipality of Ragogna.
Musical performances will begin in the afternoon, featuring a continuous flow of traditional sounds from diatonic harmonicas, accordions, violins, bagpipes, mandolins, guitars, liròn, and double basses. This year’s lineup includes ensembles such as Carantan, Trival, and Viaç, alongside other notable names in Friulian folk music.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take guided tours of the castle, the nearby church, and the surrounding natural landscapes, including the scenic Monte di Ragogna and the pristine riverbed of the Tagliamento.
The event, which blends cultural preservation with artistic celebration, continues to affirm its role as a cornerstone of Friuli’s musical and historical identity.
