In a bold move to further establish itself as a cultural capital, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region has unveiled two headline events as part of the GO! 2025 program: a major Andy Warhol retrospective and a concert by global pop sensation Robbie Williams. These events are set to bring international attention and significant foot traffic to this scenic region, as it prepares to co-host the European Capital of Culture with neighboring Slovenia.

Announced today by regional governor Massimiliano Fedriga, the highly anticipated Andy Warhol: Beyond Bordersexhibition will be hosted at Gorizia’s historic Palazzo Attems Petzenstein, running from December 20, 2024, through May 4, 2025. Showcasing dozens of Warhol’s iconic works along with multimedia installations and rare photographs, the exhibition aims to offer visitors a deep dive into the life and career of the Pop Art pioneer. As part of the GO! 2025 initiative, the exhibit is positioned to strengthen the region’s role on the European cultural map.

“Including an event of the caliber of Andy Warhol: Beyond Borders underscores Friuli Venezia Giulia’s importance in the European cultural landscape,” Fedriga stated. “Hosting the European Capital of Culture together with our Slovenian neighbors offers tremendous opportunities for our entire region, inviting visitors to experience exhibitions and events of the highest quality.”

Also making waves on the GO! 2025 lineup is the sole Italian concert of Robbie Williams Live 2025, scheduled for July 17 at the Nereo Rocco Stadium in Trieste. This exclusive Italian stop is expected to draw fans from across the continent to the Adriatic coast. With its anticipated electrifying atmosphere, the concert promises to be one of the high points of the GO!2025&FRIENDS series, a cultural program spearheaded by PromoTurismoFVG, aimed at promoting the region’s cultural and musical offerings.

“Hosting a concert of this magnitude not only enriches the GO!2025&Friends program but underscores the importance of Trieste and Friuli Venezia Giulia as a destination for major international events,” said Fedriga. “This Robbie Williams concert represents a unique opportunity for our region, combining a memorable musical experience with a platform to showcase Friuli Venezia Giulia’s excellence.”

The GO! 2025 cultural initiative is a milestone event for Friuli Venezia Giulia, aimed at fostering collaboration with Slovenia, elevating the region’s profile, and creating a cross-border cultural experience. As Italy’s northeastern gateway to Europe, the region is leveraging these events to promote its cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and unique position as a bridge between Italy and Slovenia.

With Andy Warhol’s vibrant explorations of pop culture and Robbie Williams’ high-energy performances, the GO! 2025 lineup promises an unforgettable experience for visitors. The program reflects Friuli Venezia Giulia’s commitment to investing in the arts and positioning itself as a must-visit destination for art lovers, music enthusiasts, and cultural tourists alike.
