In a groundbreaking partnership with the Regional Department for the Defense of the Environment, Energy, and Sustainable Development, Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia is set to unveil “The Chronicles of the Landfill” on January 20 and 27 at Politeama Rossetti. Penned and directed by Paola Bonesi, this innovative production emerged from workshops in elementary schools across the region, featuring Bonesi and actors Romina Colbasso and Giacomo Faroldi.
Initiated by a Teatro Stabile project for elementary school children and backed by the Regional Department for the Defense of the Environment, “The Chronicles of the Landfill” is breaking tradition by opening its doors to family audiences on Saturday, January 20, and the following Saturday, both at 5 PM at Politeama Rossetti.
The current daily performance caters to elementary school children, presenting a playful yet impactful take on nature conservation and the importance of proper recycling.
Paola Bonesi, along with Romina Colbasso and Giacomo Andrea Faroldi, conducted workshops in schools across Trieste, Udine, and Gorizia. These sessions involved discussions on waste and recycling, culminating in the creative assembly of everyday waste into whimsical characters that now take center stage in the show.
Audiences will meet Oki, an alien baffled by Earth’s mistreatment, who, alongside a befriended young girl, embarks on an adventure to save the planet.
Bonesi’s script flows from material gathered during these school encounters. “The Chronicles of the Landfill” is a modern fable, addressing sibling relationships, fears, responsibility, the joy of collective action, and pride in contributing to a better future, all conveyed in language tailored for children.
