In a resolute move to address the Wartsila crisis and secure local jobs, the Region, in alignment with various government entities, is pushing forward to forge a decisive agreement with Wartsila. Governor Massimiliano Fedriga, flanked by regional labor assessors Alessia Rosolen and Sergio Emidio Bini, as well as other key officials, underscored the imperative of defending jobs in the Trieste area and preserving a crucial production chain for both the local territory and the nation.
During a meeting with union representatives, Fedriga emphasized the need to protect Wartsila workers, potentially facing relocation procedures initiated by the company. Discussions also revolved around broadening settlement opportunities in the Bagnoli della Rosandra area for entities like Ansaldo Energia. Moreover, there was a focus on retaining the research and development sector of the Finnish multinational in the Trieste region, where currently over 600 people are employed.
Fedriga highlighted ongoing efforts to attract entities to the Bagnoli della Rosandra area, expressing optimism about parliamentary suggestions to enact legislation discouraging multinational companies from abandoning Italian production sites. The proposed move involves making the 234 procedure more intricate for large companies established in Italy, a measure seen as beneficial not only in the context of the Wartsila crisis but also for safeguarding the entire Italian production chain.
The governor acknowledged the positive proposal from attending parliamentarians and stressed the significance of unity demonstrated by both territorial and national institutions in managing the Wartsila crisis. He underscored the commitment to taking all possible actions to ensure the welfare of employees, applauding the collective effort as a crucial step in defending local jobs and finding comprehensive solutions for the broader Italian production chain.
