Interviews: Professor Elisabetta Madriz, Rector’s Delegate for Student Orientation and Outreach; a high school student; and a university student tutor at the Orientation Office
The University of Trieste welcomed prospective students for the final day of its Open Days, an event designed to help high school students explore degree programs and prepare for their university studies.
More than 17,000 registrations were recorded for presentations of the university’s degree courses across three days, with each day dedicated to different academic disciplines. The final session focused on medicine and dentistry, attracting students from across Friuli Venezia Giulia and other parts of Italy.
Elisabetta Madriz, the university’s delegate for orientation planning, said the institution had a low student dropout rate, which she attributed in part to its efforts to guide students both before and during their studies.
“This means that there are not only orientation activities for incoming students, but also ongoing support to help them stay with their choices or make different ones,” Madriz said.
She added that employment prospects for graduates of the university’s master’s degree programs were close to 100 percent.
The Open Days gave prospective students the opportunity to speak with professors and current students, visit university facilities and laboratories, and learn more about the academic programs and campus environment they could encounter in the coming academic year.
