Interview: Paolo Altin, Member of the Trieste City Council
A proposed amendment to Trieste’s commercial plan has raised concerns about whether a correction to an alleged clerical error could effectively change the city’s planning rules and allow new commercial developments of up to 1,500 square meters in parts of the Karst plateau.
The Russo Punto Franco political group has called a news conference to outline what it describes as potential legal and administrative problems with the proposal.
Particular attention was focused on the former Hotel Obelisco site in Opicina, where a large supermarket could be built.
The group is seeking clarification from the municipal administration over the legality of the procedure and the potential consequences of the proposed resolution, arguing that the change may go beyond a simple correction and amount to a substantive revision of commercial planning rules.
