Opicina is marking the 11th edition of “Autunno a Opicina – Red Leaves on the Karst, White Sails on the Sea,” with 10 days of food, culture, outdoor activities and events linked to the Barcolana.

The program, running through Oct. 11, includes local food itineraries, decorated shop windows, guided tours of Opicina and its bunkers, children’s activities and exhibitions. The historic Opicina tram will also be displayed at its terminus during the main weekend.

The event will culminate Sunday, when visitors can watch the start of Barcolana 58 from several panoramic points around Opicina, including the Obelisk, the Napoleonica and Vedetta d’Italia.

Organizers say the event is intended to bring the atmosphere of the city’s major sailing festival into the Karst, while highlighting Opicina’s food, landscape and local associations.
