Monfalcone-based association dinAMICI has donated new equipment to the Nuclear Medicine Unit (SC Medicina Nucleare) at Trieste’s Cattinara Hospital, helping to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic pathways for patients with breast cancer and melanoma.

Funded through proceeds from the “Ottobre Rosa – Take Care of You” fundraising campaign, the donation consists of a radio-guided surgery probe used to identify sentinel lymph nodes and non-palpable breast lesions. According to the unit, led by Dr. Franca Dore, the equipment will enable more precise and less invasive surgical procedures. The device is the unit’s second probe of this kind, further strengthening its role as the reference center for the procedure throughout the Giuliano-Isontina area.

Dore thanked dinAMICI and its president, Manuela Fumis, describing the donation as a tangible contribution to the adoption of advanced technologies and the delivery of high-quality care across the region.

Fumis said the donation demonstrates how community solidarity can translate into concrete benefits for patients. She noted that this is the first of two donations planned through the association’s 2025 fundraising campaign, with the second earmarked for San Polo Hospital in Monfalcone. She also expressed gratitude to the volunteers, supporters, and businesses involved in the initiative, adding that preparations are already underway for the 2026 edition of Ottobre Rosa.

ASUGI General Director Antonio Poggiana described the donation as another milestone in the long-standing partnership between dinAMICI and the healthcare authority, a collaboration rooted in patient-centered care and support for the public health system.

Regional Councilor for Health, Social Policies, and Disability Riccardo Riccardi said that every investment in technology and diagnostic and therapeutic pathways represents an investment in people’s health. He added that the donation demonstrates how community engagement can strengthen the regional healthcare network alongside public institutions.
