Young footballers from Friuli Venezia Giulia were honored on Friday after a strong showing at Italy’s Torneo delle Regioni, held this year in Puglia.

Welcomed at regional headquarters by Governor Massimiliano Fedriga and Vice Governor Mario Anzil, the athletes represented the region under the “Io sono Fvg” banner, an initiative aimed at promoting local identity through sport and culture.

The Under-15 team secured the national title with a 3–1 victory over Tuscany, marking the region’s first win in the category in more than a decade. The Under-17 side finished second, while the Under-19 team reached the semifinals. The women’s Under-21 squad also delivered a solid performance.

Officials said the results reflect both growing investment in youth sports and the strength of grassroots football in a region small in size but increasingly competitive on the national stage.
