Villa Manin is set to host a special evening this Friday, April 11, celebrating the intersection of art, music, and sensory experiences in the closing days of the exhibition “Borders: From Gauguin to Hopper. Song with Variations.”

The event, titled “La notte dei confini” (“The Night of Borders”), will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the central square of the historic dogal residence in Passariano. Organizers describe it as a multi-layered cultural experience, designed to engage visitors through music, gastronomy, and olfactory installations.

Mario Anzil, vice president and regional councillor for culture of Friuli Venezia Giulia, highlighted the exhibition’s scope and significance. “This is perhaps the most ambitious and complex cultural production ever realized in the region, featuring more than 130 iconic works from over 40 museums across five continents,” he said. “An event of this magnitude deserves a closing evening that is equally special.”

The evening program includes live performances by an ensemble of the Wiener Symphoniker at 8 p.m., followed by a performance from Trieste-born violinist and composer Pierpaolo Foti at 9 p.m. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy a gastronomic path showcasing regional specialties, organized by the Unpli – Associazione Pro Loco del Friuli Venezia Giulia, while an olfactory installation by perfumer Lorenzo Dante Ferro aims to engage multiple senses simultaneously.

The event is free and open to the public, and it is scheduled to take place outdoors, promoting both cultural engagement and social interaction. Visitors will also be able to access the exhibition until midnight, with the last entry at 10:45 p.m., and a reduced admission of €7 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Since opening on October 11, 2025, the exhibition has drawn over 100,000 visitors, establishing itself as one of the region’s most significant cultural attractions. Marco Goldin, the exhibition curator, will be present at the event, alongside Vice President Anzil.

“La notte dei confini” follows the first edition of the event, held on December 26, which attracted approximately 10,000 visitors to Villa Manin. The evening is intended as both a cultural celebration and a multisensory experience, inviting attendees to explore art in a novel and immersive way.
