The Trieste Film Festival closes today, bringing to an end nine days of screenings, conversations, and encounters that once again positioned the city as a key meeting point for Central and Eastern European cinema. The 37th edition featured international premieres, award-winning documentaries, and new voices alongside established auteurs, drawing audiences across Trieste’s historic venues.

In recent days, we discussed the festival’s vision, challenges, and evolving role with its artistic director, Nicoletta Romeo, whose long-standing leadership has shaped the festival’s identity and international profile. Her full interview appears in our winter print edition, available around town.
