At the Blue Economy conference in Trieste, the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Massimiliano Fedriga, urged a broader strategic outlook for the future of the Port of Trieste. “What is the future of the port?” he asked, noting that the Atlantic side of global trade already has several well-established points of entry.
Fedriga argued that Trieste must look toward the Far East to strengthen its role in international commerce. He emphasized the need to collaborate with partners who view the region’s transport links as a strong alternative gateway to Europe and the West. “In this sense,” he said, “India could become a strategic country.”
