Municipal authorities announced that a number of public gardens across the city will be closed beginning Wednesday, September 24, as a precaution against adverse weather conditions.
The closures will remain in effect until the weather improves, the city said in a statement on Tuesday.
Among the affected sites are some of Trieste’s most frequented green spaces, including the Giardino Pubblico “de Tommasini” in Via Giulia, the Giardino “Falcone e Borsellino” in Altura, the Basevi Garden, and Villa Engelmann on Via Chiadino. Other locations subject to closure include Villa Cosulich, Parco Bazzoni, the skatepark on Via Petitti di Roreto, Piazza Hortis, Vicolo dell’Edera, and Villa Revoltella. Access to the church on the Villa Revoltella grounds will remain possible during normal hours.
The Giardino “Fra M.V. Antollovich,” the Giardino “Wanda e Marion Wulz,” the Giardino “Fedora Barbieri,” and smaller neighborhood parks such as those on Via San Michele, Campagna Prandi, and Via Molino a Vento are also included in the list.
The Giardino di Villa Sartorio, located on Via dei Modiano, will remain open solely for work-related activities within its buildings, while public access will continue to be restricted.
City officials did not specify how long the closures would last but indicated that they would reopen the gardens once conditions allow.
