The famed bora wind, known for its dramatic gusts that sweep through the northeastern Italian city of Trieste, made a relatively subdued appearance on Tuesday. While present, the wind was far from the intense bursts that can reach hurricane force, instead offering a light, steady breeze that shaped a calm and pleasant day across the city.
“It’s definitely a bora day, but not one to write home about,” said Silvia Feruglio, a barista at a historic café along the square. “It keeps things cool, which is nice this time of year.”
The bora is part of daily life in Trieste and often shapes the rhythm of the city. It is most famous in winter, when it can howl through alleyways and cause disruptions to traffic and port activity. On days like today, however, it acts more like a backdrop than a headline.
