The University of Trieste awarded an honorary Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Cooperation on Friday to Simone Bemporad, Director of Communications and External Relations at the Generali Group, in recognition of his contributions to cultural diplomacy and the promotion of responsible business practices on a global scale.
The award, initiated by the Department of Political and Social Sciences, acknowledged Bemporad for his “significant and innovative contribution to the development of cultural diplomacy and the dissemination of entrepreneurial models based on transparency, sustainability, and social development.”
The ceremony, held at the university’s main hall, opened with remarks from Rector Roberto Di Lenarda. Professor Georg Meyr, head of the department, formally presented the award citation. This was followed by an academic laudation delivered by Professor Diego Abenante, coordinator of the Master’s program in Diplomacy and International Cooperation.
In his address, Abenante described Bemporad as “a leading figure in the national and international landscape of strategic communication, institutional relations, and corporate diplomacy,” noting his ability to “bridge private interests with public responsibility” in a career that reflects the evolving role of business as a global political actor.
Before entering the corporate world, Bemporad worked as a journalist and later held positions at Italy’s Ministries of the Treasury and Industry. He has since held senior external relations roles at major public and private institutions, including IRI, Enel, Leonardo, and now Generali. Alongside his executive career, he has been active as a writer and contributor to various international organizations.
The honorary degree celebrates a professional path that, according to the university, exemplifies how business leaders can serve as agents of global cooperation and cultural dialogue.
