In a significant step toward sustainable energy development, the Consortium for the Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley convened at the University of Rijeka this week. This meeting marks a pivotal moment for regional collaboration among Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia, aiming to create a robust transnational organization dedicated to hydrogen investment and innovation.

Regional Councillor for Labor and Research, Alessia Rosolen, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “This is an important moment for dialogue to affirm our intention to build a transnational organization capable of implementing a program that can plan investments in hydrogen.” She emphasized that the project not only addresses energy and industrial aspects but also has far-reaching implications for social improvement and innovative mobility.

The Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley initiative represents a strategic investment in the future of the region, with a focus on enhancing economic opportunities through the development of a specialized workforce. “The Region is investing significant resources in this project, which is crucial for Croatia, Slovenia, and Friuli Venezia Giulia,” Rosolen explained. “This initiative, which looks towards the future for our communities, will create highly sought-after professional profiles in the market.”

The consortium’s objectives include attracting private investors and fostering industrial research, with the aim of establishing a territorial specialization in hydrogen technologies. “We will increasingly focus on the training of professional profiles to create new employment opportunities,” Rosolen affirmed.

As discussions turned toward future prospects, Rosolen noted, “The time is ripe to bring to the attention of the diplomatic bodies of Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia the proposal to establish an organization that can coordinate all further design and development initiatives for this very important hydrogen-based ecosystem.”

The Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley is poised to become a flagship project for the European Union, showcasing how public investment and transnational collaboration can drive innovation and sustainable growth in the energy sector. As the consortium continues to shape its vision, it remains committed to ensuring that this burgeoning ecosystem remains in public hands to effectively guide the various private entities involved.

As the world shifts toward renewable energy solutions, the Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley stands at the forefront of this transformation, offering a blueprint for future collaboration in the pursuit of a sustainable energy future.
