Nestled in the picturesque village of Opicina, the renowned market event “A Well of Opportunities” returns this Thursday, June 20th, courtesy of the Cultural Association “Cose di Vecchie Case.” Celebrating 25 years of operation in 2023, the association continues to captivate locals and tourists alike with its curated blend of antiques, collectibles, and artisanal crafts.

Taking place on the third Thursday of every month from 8 am to sunset, the market, held along the charming streets of via Nazionale, Strada per Vienna, and via di Prosecco, is a collaborative effort between the Cultural Association and the Municipality of Trieste. This collaboration not only showcases regional talent but also serves as a catalyst for economic vitality, drawing visitors from both near and far to stimulate the local economy.

Among the market’s highlights are its diverse offerings, ranging from small antiques and modern collectibles to handcrafted treasures. Enthusiasts of all ages can indulge in a treasure trove of vintage vinyl records, comics, miniatures, and other nostalgic memorabilia. Additionally, elegant gazebos adorned with artisanal creations in wood, glass, and ceramics provide a visual feast for attendees.

The market’s name pays homage to its historical significance, situated near the iconic Zinzendorf Stele, a testament to the village’s rich heritage. Erected in 1780 by Karl von Zinzendorf, the Governor of Trieste, the monument commemorates the visionary efforts of Maria Theresa and Joseph II in expanding Opicina’s commercial reach.

Despite its storied past, the market remains firmly rooted in the present, embracing modern sensibilities while preserving tradition. As the next session approaches on May 16th, organizers anticipate another successful gathering, weather permitting.

Founded in 1998, the Cultural Association “Cose di Vecchie Case” has become a cornerstone of the region’s cultural landscape. With over 350 members and a track record of collaborative partnerships with municipal administrations across Italy, the association continues to enrich the community through its diverse array of events, spanning from art exhibitions to children’s activities.

As Opicina prepares to welcome visitors to its storied streets once again, “A Well of Opportunities” stands as a testament to the enduring allure of craft skills, culture, and community spirit.
