Stars were shinning bright last night 6 July in Portopiccolo’s piazza as the famous dancers know for their appearances in Italian shows “Amici” and “Ballando con le Stelle” took stage at sunset accompanied by ‘Expats in Trieste’ team.
Six expats from the Expats in Trieste community took part in the event together with the stellar dancers.
“When Portopiccolo invited us,” said Francesco Stumpo, co-founder of Expats “we instantly said yes. What an amazing night!”
The hot July afternoon began with the expats meeting their famous coaches and deciding on a dance.
“One minute and twenty seconds of a dance might not seem like a lot,” said Francesco, “but to remember all of those moves in an hour… it’s not easy! Luckily Alessandra was very professional and helped me out throughout the performance.”
“I loved every minute of it. My coach Luca was extremely professional and very patient with me. I’m really happy I took part in this as I was hesitant at the beginning,” said Maria Kochetkova from Expats in Trieste.
“It’s always been difficult for me to remember choreography,” said Valentina Stangoni. “I love dancing and with my coach Leonardo it was easy to do as he chose the right kind of moves for me.”
“To place myself near someone of that level of excellence in front of an audience was an experience to remember for a lifetime,” said Liz Longhi, an expat from Florida. “Dance is not my forte nor have I ever had lessons. The hosts, judges, and stars were incredible, kind, fun, and supportive. The evening exceeded any possible expectation that I could have dreamed. A few times I had to pinch myself to make sure I really was not dreaming.”
“Amazing night. The initial stress for the live performance and the courage found inside ourselves have been rewarded with memorable star system moments shared with the grace and the beauty of our dance teachers. Lovely and unforgettable!” added Francesco Carola.
“Last night’s experience in Portopiccolo was extraordinary on many levels,” said Antonio Macedu, an expat from Portugal. “From the adrenaline of the stopwatch to the more relaxed period after the performances. Memorizing the choreography is extraordinarily difficult in just one hour. I like dancing and I’ve been on stage a couple of times, but not in anything this big. I had a lot of fun and it was an experience as incredible as it was unforgettable.”

Simone Di Pasquale, a famous Italian dancer and choreographer hosted the event with ease and elegance, making the expats feel like they were part of the stellar cast.
Among the judges present in the audience were the president of Il Rossetti theater, Francesco Granbassi, singer and performer, Stefania Seculin, and InTrieste’s photographer and performer Erin McKinney.
The next “Dancing with the Stars” event will be held in Portopiccolo on July 27th and conducted by the great Simone Di Pasquale.
