Several thousand people are expected to take part in a march in Trieste on Friday, Oct. 30, with authorities planning heightened security measures along the route.

The demonstration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the New Port and proceed through Campi Elisi, Via Alberti, the San Vito and Sandrinelli tunnels, Corso Italia, Via San Spiridione, Via Filzi, Via Milano, Via Carducci and Via Ghega, before ending in Piazza Libertà.

Giuseppe Petronzi, the prefect of Trieste, said law enforcement agencies would continuously monitor the demonstration and take measures to protect businesses along the route.

While most participants are expected to come from Trieste, some demonstrators will travel from outside the city, Petronzi said. Authorities have made arrangements to monitor incoming groups and encourage a peaceful gathering.

“We have been working on this for several days, and we will do everything we can to ensure that the needs of the demonstration are compatible with the daily life of our city,” Petronzi said.
