As winter gives way to early spring, the ski season in the mountains of Friuli Venezia Giulia is entering its final stretch, with lower lift ticket prices and a handful of seasonal events drawing visitors to the region’s slopes.
Beginning Monday, March 9, daily lift tickets across the region’s six ski areas will drop from €44 to €31 as operators shift to low-season pricing. The reduced fares will remain in effect through the end of the winter season at most resorts.
Five ski areas — Forni di Sopra-Sauris, Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Sappada-Forni Avoltri and Tarvisio — are scheduled to remain open until March 22, when the 2025–26 season is expected to conclude. The resort of Sella Nevea, located near the border with Slovenia, plans to extend operations until Easter Monday, April 6.
The late-season period will also mark the end of night skiing for the year. Friday, March 6, is scheduled to be the final evening session on the Di Prampero run at Monte Lussari, where new LED lighting installed earlier this winter has improved both visibility and energy efficiency. The illuminated descent, accessible from the intermediate station down to the valley, has become a popular attraction for skiers seeking a nighttime experience on the mountain.
Ski operations in the coming weeks will depend on weather conditions and snow coverage, which can fluctuate significantly in early spring. Regional tourism authority PromoTurismoFVG said that lift openings and trail availability will be evaluated daily. Real-time updates are available through the region’s InfoNeve snow report service.
The reduced ticket prices apply to a range of passes. Adult day passes will cost €31, while seniors will pay €27.50. Junior skiers and those over 75 will continue to pay €10, and children classified as “baby” will have free access. Hourly passes — known locally as “sci@ore” — for adults will cost €22 for three hours, €25 for four hours and €27.50 for five hours.
Lift tickets can be purchased at resort ticket offices or at automated machines available in several ski areas, including Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan and Tarvisio.
Some winter services introduced earlier in the season will remain available through the final weeks. A phone-charging system using shared portable batteries has been installed in Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan and Tarvisio in partnership with Brick, an international technology company headquartered in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Skiers can register at a charging station, borrow a power bank and recharge their phones on the slopes; the first two hours of use are offered free of charge by PromoTurismoFVG.
Several events are also planned before the season closes. In Tarvisio, the traveling festival “Toyota Snow Beat Tour by RDS” will bring live music, gaming areas and brand installations designed like igloos to the resort from Friday through Sunday. The event combines winter sports with entertainment and automotive showcases as part of a tour of major Italian ski destinations.
The following weekend, on March 13 and 14, Tarvisio will host the “Tarvisio Winter Trail 2026,” a mountain running event that includes an evening opening of the Monte Lussari cable car for pedestrians until 9 p.m. on Friday.
