Trieste will mark the arrival of 2026 with a free New Year’s Eve celebration in Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia on December 31, continuing a tradition that has become a focal point of the city’s winter calendar.

The event, titled One Night Show and organized by the Municipality of Trieste, will run from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and feature live music, DJ sets, and a midnight fireworks display launched from the Molo Audace. The evening’s main performance will be led by Italian singer and stage performer Michele Tomatis, whose show spans decades of popular music, alongside DJ sets by Renato Pontoni and Kriss Simon.

Shortly before midnight, television presenter Marina Presello will host the countdown to the new year with local authorities. Access to the square will be free but regulated through security checkpoints, with restrictions on glass objects and extensive traffic and pedestrian controls in the city center.

City officials say the event comes amid continued growth in tourism, with hotels already fully booked for New Year’s Eve. Framed by the Adriatic Sea, the celebration underscores Trieste’s strategy of pairing large public events with its distinctive historic setting.
