A solemn ceremony was held Wednesday morning in Largo Caduti di Nassirija, near the Ferdinandeo, to commemorate the Day of Remembrance for Fallen Military and Civilian Personnel in International Peace Missions.

Trieste’s mayor, Roberto Dipiazza, attended the event, which featured the laying of a laurel wreath jointly offered by the Prefecture, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and the Municipality of Trieste. The wreath was placed at the monument dedicated to the victims of Nassirija, honoring those who lost their lives while serving in peacekeeping operations abroad.

The ceremony included a flag-raising, conducted in the presence of the city’s official banner, a military honor guard provided by the Ministry of Defense, and the participation of local and regional authorities.

The annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Italian servicemen and women, as well as civilians, who have taken part in international missions promoting peace and security around the world.
