The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has announced its support for Marco Consalvo as the candidate to lead the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, which oversees the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone.
Governor Massimiliano Fedriga said on Wednesday that the region would give its formal approval to the name put forward by Italy’s Ministry of Transport. He described Consalvo as “a competent and well-regarded professional with a curriculum of proven national and international experience.”
Fedriga added that he hopes Consalvo’s appointment will move forward quickly so that “the activities of our port system can return to normal operations.”
The nomination comes at a significant time for the Eastern Adriatic port system, a key maritime and logistical hub for northeastern Italy and Central Europe.
