The city of Trieste is set to conclude its annual Trieste Estate summer festival with a series of performances and cultural events running from Thursday, September 11, through Sunday, September 14. Organized by the city’s Department of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the Departments of Education and Family, and of Territorial Policies, the festival receives support from PromoTurismoFVG and the Trieste Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The festival opens Thursday at Teatro Verdi with Note d’artista: incontro con gli autori at 6 p.m., a free event in the Sala Victor de Sabata. Later, at 7:30 p.m., the festival presents a Brahms program featuring pianist Vadym Kholodenko and conductor Hartmut Haenchen with the Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste.

At 9 p.m., the Giardino del Museo Sartorio hosts Flores del Sur, a concert celebrating traditional Latin American music. The ensemble explores a range of genres, from Peruvian criolla to Venezuelan joropo, Cuban son, and Colombian cumbia, performed by an international group of musicians including Juan Vladilo (piano, cuatro, guitar, voice), Edoardo Fajardo (clarinet, saxophone), Peter Díaz Castillo (percussion, charango, voice), Zinajda Kodrič (flutes, voice), Marta Mattotti (voice, percussion), and Saverio Gaglianese (acoustic bass).

Friday evening brings the Nuovi Orizzonti series at the same venue with Kety Fusco performing on the electronic harp at 8:30 p.m. Fusco, a rising star in Switzerland and Europe, is known for transforming the traditional harp into an innovative contemporary instrument.

The weekend continues Saturday, September 13, with Vivaldi e Goldoni a Venezia at Sala Lelio Luttazzi Magazzino 26, Porto Vecchio-Porto Vivo, at 8:30 p.m. The performance pairs the music of Antonio Vivaldi with the words of Venetian playwright Carlo Goldoni and features Lorenzo Acquaviva (narrator), Marco Seco (harpsichord), and the Quartetto New Era.

Later at 9 p.m., the Giardino del Museo Sartorio hosts Necrologio allegretto andante per la morte dell’ippocastano Saverio, a tribute to a historic horse chestnut tree that stood in Piazza Hortis, part of a centuries-old balance between urban development and natural green spaces.

The festival concludes Sunday, September 14, at Teatro Verdi with a final Note d’artista: incontro con gli autori at 6 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., pianist Jan Lisiecki and conductor Luka Hauser lead the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi Orchestra in three works by Ludwig van Beethoven, including the Coriolan Overture, the Emperor Concerto, and Symphony No. 5.

Organizers note that in the event of severe weather or alerts, scheduled performances may be canceled, relocated, or postponed. Updated information is available on the city’s official social media channels and website.
