Trieste Airport has been named one of the five fastest-growing medium-sized airports in Europe for the first half of 2025, according to new data from Airport Council International (ACI) Europe.
The ranking, compiled from traffic statistics across 450 member airports, places Trieste second in its category, measured by passenger growth compared with the same period last year. In July alone, passenger numbers at the Friuli Venezia Giulia airport rose 30 percent over July 2024.
The airport now projects it will handle more than 1.65 million passengers by the end of the year — a 136 percent increase compared with 2022.
“Our main objective is to continue growing in the medium and long term,” said Marco Consalvo, the airport’s chief executive. “The trajectory is good, and we are determined to make this an infrastructure of international significance.”
The ACI Europe report, which tracks passenger traffic trends, noted overall growth of 4.5 percent across European airports in the first half of 2025.
