On Sunday, August 10, visitors to the Immaginario Scientifico museum will have the chance to step into the role of environmental advocates confronting one of the world’s most persistent challenges: plastic pollution in the ocean.

As part of the ongoing Archeoplastica exhibition, the museum will host the debut of Plastic Fighters, a new cooperative board game created by the environmental association DelTa – Delfini e Tartarughe nel Golfo di Trieste APS, in collaboration with White Cocal Press and with support from Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed). The game invites players — from educators to curious visitors aged 10 and older — to work together toward a sustainable balance for marine ecosystems.

Entirely produced from eco-friendly materials, Plastic Fighters assigns each participant a specific role within a fictional environmental organization. Players coordinate efforts to remove existing waste, prevent new pollution, and protect marine life, underscoring the complexity of environmental problem-solving.

The game demonstration, included in the museum’s regular admission fee, begins at 4 p.m. and requires no reservation. The Immaginario Scientifico will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Archeoplastica exhibition, on view through August 17, offers a stark perspective on the long life of plastic waste. Featuring 30 original plastic artifacts dating from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s — each still intact and recognizable — the display reflects both the durability of synthetic materials and the lingering impact of past consumption habits.
