On Sunday, August 3, 2025, visitors to Trieste will have the opportunity to explore several of the city’s leading museums free of charge, as part of Italy’s nationwide “Domenica al Museo” initiative. The program, launched by the Ministry of Culture, offers complimentary admission to cultural institutions across the country on the first Sunday of every month.
In Trieste, the initiative applies specifically to Civic Museums that typically charge an entry fee. These include the Revoltella Museum of Modern Art, the Castle of San Giusto, the Carlo Schmidl Theater Museum, the Diego de Henriquez Museum of War for Peace, and the Museum of Natural History.
The Municipality of Trieste also reminds residents and tourists that free year-round access is already in place for several other cultural sites. These include the Sea Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art, the Sartorio Museum, the J.J. Winckelmann Museum of Antiquities, the Risiera di San Sabba memorial site, the Documentation Center of the Foiba of Basovizza, and the Museum of the Risorgimento and Oberdan Shrine.
“Domenica al Museo” aims to promote public engagement with cultural heritage by removing economic barriers and encouraging wider participation in the arts and history.
