Trieste has officially unveiled the 2025 editions of two major cultural events focused on historical reenactment and educational outreach: Le Stagioni delle Armi and Legiomania. The announcement was made on Wednesday during a press conference held at the Bastione Rotondo of the San Giusto Castle, led by Giorgio Rossi, Trieste’s Councilor for Culture and Tourism.

The summer-long series Le Stagioni delle Armi will return to the Castle of San Giusto from Saturday, July 26 to Sunday, September 14, offering historical reenactments and educational activities each weekend. Now a staple in the city’s summer calendar, the initiative aims to bring medieval and early modern history to life through live demonstrations, interactive displays, and performances by reenactors in period costume.

Joining Rossi at the press conference were Stefano Bianchi, a leading expert in historical reconstruction, and several reenactors in full historical attire, who offered a visual preview of what visitors can expect during the upcoming season.

In addition to Le Stagioni delle Armi, the city will also host Legiomania, a three-day event dedicated to Roman history, from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21. The event will take place in the gardens of the J.J. Winckelmann Museum of Antiquities, named after the German scholar often considered the father of modern archaeology.

Legiomania will feature workshops, exhibitions, and reenactments centered on ancient Roman military life and culture, with a focus on educational engagement for visitors of all ages.

Both events are part of Trieste’s broader initiative to promote cultural heritage through immersive public programming and to make history accessible and engaging to residents and tourists alike.
