In honor of the 300th anniversary of Giacomo Casanova’s birth, the city of Trieste will offer a free guided tour on Thursday, July 17, exploring two concurrent exhibitions dedicated to the 18th-century Venetian adventurer and writer.

The tour will begin at 5:45 p.m. at the Museo dell’I.R.C.I. on Via Torino, where curator Marina Parladori will introduce visitors to “Casanova in viaggio. Porti e approdi dall’Adriatico al Levante” — an exhibition focused on Casanova’s travels along the Adriatic coast, including ports in Istria and Dalmatia.
At 6:45 p.m., the group will continue to the nearby Civico Museo Petrarchesco Piccolomineo on Via Madonna del Mare 13, home to “Casanova in viaggio. L’approdo a Trieste.” This second exhibit, presented by Alessandra Sirugo, narrows the lens to Casanova’s arrival and experiences in Trieste itself.
The initiative offers an opportunity to explore the life and journeys of Casanova — often remembered primarily for his romantic escapades — through the lens of his extensive travels and cultural encounters, with a particular focus on his connection to the Adriatic region. Admission to both exhibitions and the guided tour is free of charge.
