The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia is preparing a €550,000 support package to offset the economic impact of the upcoming closure of Slovenia’s H4 expressway, with particular attention to the Interporto Sdag logistics hub in Gorizia.
The funding measure is set to be included in the upcoming budget adjustment proposal and aims to ensure continuity of service at the logistics facility throughout the duration of the roadworks, without imposing additional costs on operators.
Cristina Amirante, the region’s Councillor for Infrastructure and Territory, announced the initiative during a meeting held Wednesday at the Sdag facility in Gorizia. The session focused on the implications of the H4 closure, which connects Slovenia to northeastern Italy and serves as a key transit route for goods.
According to current plans, the first phase of construction work on the H4 will begin in mid-August and last approximately 100 days. Further phases are expected to follow, though exact timelines have not yet been confirmed.
Regional authorities said the goal is to mitigate disruption to cross-border commerce and safeguard the role of the Interporto Sdag as a logistical link between Italy and Central Europe.
