The Trieste Local Police marked the 163rd anniversary of its founding on Friday with a formal ceremony held in the scenic grounds of Miramare Castle. The event, hosted with the support of the Historical Museum and Park of Miramare Castle, took place in the inner courtyard facing the 19th-century Habsburg residence and was attended by civil, military, and religious authorities.

Among those present were Trieste’s Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, City Security Councillor Caterina de Gavardo, Local Police Commander Walter Milocchi, Regional Councillor for Local Authorities Pierpaolo Roberti, and Member of the European Parliament Anna Maria Cisint.

A mounted police unit from the Pordenone Local Police added a ceremonial touch to the occasion.

Commander Milocchi addressed the audience with words of appreciation for the Ministry of Culture and especially Dr. Andreina Contessa, director of the Miramare Museum, for hosting the event in what he described as a “splendid setting” that enhanced the significance of the celebration.

Milocchi also offered his congratulations to the Local Police Band on its 20th anniversary and extended gratitude to the Prefecture and all police forces for their continued collaboration. “Close cooperation among institutions,” he noted, “is essential for addressing daily challenges and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.”

The event underscored the enduring role of the local police force in public service, as well as its evolving mission in a rapidly changing urban and social landscape.
