Bioest, Trieste’s long-running fair dedicated to organic products, environmental awareness, and sustainable living, returns for its 32nd edition on June 7 and 8. The open-air event will take place in the city’s San Giovanni Park, featuring nearly 150 exhibitors, educational workshops, wellness sessions, and cultural programming. Entry is free.

Organized by the Associazione Bioest – Gruppo Ecologista Naturista di Trieste, in co-operation with the City of Trieste, the event was formally presented on Tuesday at City Hall during a press conference led by Member of council Manuela Declich. Representatives from the city’s Economic Activities department, as well as leaders of the Bioest association and Eirenefest, a festival of literature and peace, were also in attendance.

“Bioest is a traditional event with a slightly old-fashioned charm that continues to resonate with the public,” said Declich, who spoke on behalf of Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel. “It’s rooted in the territory and promotes a return to living in harmony with nature.”

This year’s edition will once again include a broad selection of natural and organic goods, from food and cosmetics to artisanal crafts and wellness products. The fair also serves as a platform for environmentalist, cultural, and volunteer organizations across the region.

A Weekend of Wellness, Nature, and Learning

The fair’s official inauguration is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a variety of activities spread throughout the park. The early morning begins with yoga sessions for children and adults, as well as wellness treatments offered by local associations.

Visitors can also participate in a guided walk through the park’s apiaries, organized by the Trieste Beekeepers’ Consortium, or join a wild herb foraging walk led by local expert Furio Sugan.

The fair will also host the opening of Eirenefest, a festival devoted to books and peace education, alongside a full family program organized by MINIMU, a children’s museum initiative. Running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 to 7 p.m., MINIMU’s offerings include:

  • Guided visits to the museum and its exhibits,
  • A show titled “Giocare al Museo,” featuring works by 15 students from Liceo Nordio,
  • An art installation titled “Passaggio a Nord Est”, a tribute to the late designer Bruno Munari and to Bioest,
  • A hands-on family workshop, “Il Parco in movimento,” exploring nature and movement.

At 12:30 p.m., chef and yoga instructor Stefano Momentè will present his book “Lo yoga è vegan” and lead a vegan cooking demonstration. In the afternoon, the program continues with mindfulness sessions, forest therapy, and a conference on Steiner-Waldorf education led by educator Mauro Franzi.

Bioest 2025 aims to offer more than just a marketplace. Organizers describe it as a gathering that blends environmental consciousness, alternative wellness practices, and community celebration—elements that continue to attract both local residents and visitors from across the region.

The fair concludes on Sunday with another full day of programming and exhibitions.
