In a determined effort to retain its youth and address the evolving demands of the labor market, the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia has announced a Recruitment Day in Trieste, aimed at aligning local job opportunities with the region’s growing industries.

Scheduled for October 9, the Recruitment Day will feature 100 job openings provided by seven regional companies specializing in healthcare, quality of life, and bioeconomy. The event, presented today in Trieste, is promoted by the Region’s Employment Services in collaboration with the FVG Life Sciences Cluster and the “Andrea Galvani” Alto Adriatico Technology Hub in Pordenone.

The companies seeking new talent include Aindo, Alifax, Bat Trieste, Biofarma, Limacorporate, Mttlab, and Televita. Open positions range across various departments, including research and development, design, production, and warehousing. Applications are open until September 26, with interviews set to take place at the Urban Center in Trieste.

“Life sciences are one of the key sectors where the region is making structured investments,” said Alessia Rosolen, Regional Councillor for Labor and Research. “Between 2019 and 2023, employment in this sector grew by 66%. This growth is largely driven by the regional administration’s investment policies, which have prioritized research and innovation.”

Permanent contracts in this industry account for 54% of jobs, significantly higher than the 15% average in other sectors. Women make up 67% of the workforce, with 40% being young professionals.

The Recruitment Day is just one part of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s broader efforts to combat youth migration and build a stronger local economy. In the first half of 2024, the region organized 20 Recruitment Days, attracting 132 companies looking to fill 1,885 positions. Nearly 5,000 resumes were submitted, with over 2,000 candidates interviewed.

Regional leaders hope that by investing in specialized training and expanding employment services, they can create a more vibrant and resilient labor market that incentivizes young people to stay in the region. These efforts align with Friuli Venezia Giulia’s broader goals of fostering economic growth in both urban and rural areas.
