In a testament to the enduring prowess of Europe’s maritime industry, the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone played host today to a distinguished guest: Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Internal Market. Mr. Breton’s visit underscored the exceptional standards upheld by the industrial enclave within the Fincantieri Group, as he was warmly received by Pierroberto Folgiero, Fincantieri’s CEO and General Manager, alongside a cadre of top executives including Luigi Matarazzo, overseeing the Merchant Ships Division, and Dario Deste, responsible for the Military Ships Division.

Amidst a backdrop of heightened European interest in naval construction, both commercial and military, attendees were treated to a comprehensive presentation elucidating the company’s core values, strengths, and its tangible commitments in defense, security, sustainability, and ESG initiatives.

Furthermore, the day served as a forum for in-depth discussions centered around the SEA Europe Maritime Industry Strategy document, shedding light on the sector’s strategic trajectory. Wrapping up the eventful day, Fincantieri’s leadership led Commissioner Breton on an insightful tour of the shipyard, showcasing vessels in various stages of construction, emblematic of the innovation and craft skills defining Europe’s maritime landscape.
