In a swift eight minutes, following an arduous labor that commenced late Sunday afternoon, Burlo Hospital in Trieste proudly welcomed the first newborn of the year. Troi, a healthy baby boy weighing 3.3 kilograms, emerged into the world, the offspring of parents hailing from Kosovo.

In the early moments of 2024, Trieste celebrated not only Troi but also the arrival of another baby girl at 5:15 AM.

New Year’s Eve saw a dip in the usual birth numbers. In Pordenone, at 2:15 AM, Xi, a baby of Chinese descent, made his entrance, while in Monfalcone, shortly after 3 AM, another baby boy was born, though details remain undisclosed.

Udine welcomed the first female of the year. Baya, a baby girl weighing 4.2 kilograms, entered the world at 5:07 AM, bringing joy to her parents, Amal and Ileys.

However, the night brought empty cribs in Latisana, Tolmezzo, and San Daniele.
