FVG Ski Season Update: Resorts Maintain Regular Operations

As of December 31st, PromoTurismoFVG confirms continuity in ski resort operations across the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The past days have seen a surge in skiing enthusiasts, with over 12,000 first-time entries daily.

Trieste, December 28, 2023 – Ski slopes are poised for snowfall, pending favorable weather changes. In Friuli Venezia Giulia, anticipation is high for upcoming precipitation that could finally bolster the snowpack. Meanwhile, ski resort facilities remain unchanged in various regions. This status quo is expected to persist until December 31, pending the next update from PromoTurismoFVG technicians, who will assess the feasibility of expanding slopes and facilities.

Unfazed by the weather, ski enthusiasts have flocked to various hubs in recent days, notably Tarvisio, Zoncolan, and Piancavallo, accumulating over 12,000 daily first-time entries both on Boxing Day and yesterday.

Here are the upcoming weekend openings:

Piancavallo: The Daini, Genzianella, Busa, Caprioli, Tremol, and Bambi carpets remain open, alongside the Casere, Busa Grande, Sole, Sauc, and Tremol 1 chairlifts (with only Tremol 2 closed). Ski down Busa Grande, Nazionale Bassa, Sauc Alto, Sauc Basso, Tublat, Sole, Caprioli 2 and 3, Daini, Genzianella, Casere, Casere 2, 3, and 4, and the Sauc skiweg. The bob on rails, Nevelandia, and the Pian Mazzega cross-country track (over a kilometer long) are also open.

Sappada-Forni Avoltri: In Sappada, all facilities are open, with skiing available on Pian dei Nidi and skiweg, Eiben Col dei Mughi Nazionale, Monte Siera Turistica, and more. Nevelandia has been open since Christmas. In Forni Avoltri, the biathlon facility at Piani di Luzza, Carnia Arena, remains partially open.

Forni di Sopra-Sauris: In Sauris, the Sauris di Sotto carpet and tow, the corresponding track and ski school, as well as the Sauris di Sopra carpet and its ski school, are open. In Forni di Sopra’s Varmost area, ski on Varmost 1, 2, and 3, Fienili, and Senas using the Varmost 1, 2, and 3 facilities. The Fantasy Park has been open since December 23.

Ravascletto-Zoncolan: The Monte Zoncolan funicular and Valvan chairlift remain open with various slopes and ski schools. Ski on Tamai 1, Arvenis, Goles, Lavet, Canalone, and more. Pradibosco facilities are currently closed, but the Arena freestyle snowpark opens between today and tomorrow.

Tarvisio: All facilities are open in Tarvisio except the Nuova Tarvisio chairlift. Ski on Duca d’Aosta, Di Prampero, dell’Angelo, skiweg, and more. For cross-country enthusiasts, the Arena Paruzzi is open for one kilometer, and the playground has been open since December 22.

Sella Nevea: All facilities are accessible, except for the Rifugio Cai 2 slope. The Prevala cross-country ring and the dedicated route for ski mountaineers are open. The connection to the Slovenian station of Bovec remains inaccessible.

Note that this year, automatic ticket kiosks are operational for various ticket types in Piancavallo, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Tarvisio, and Sella Nevea. Additionally, two new ticket sales points, wooden booths located outside the Amaro toll booth and in the Angelo area in Tarvisio, aim to reduce queues at ski resort ticket counters.
