In a press conference held on Monday, December 11, the eagerly anticipated “Bavisela di Natale” was officially announced. The event, organized by Apd Miramar in collaboration with the Municipality of Trieste and with the support of Asd Trieste Atletica, is set to take place on Sunday, December 17, starting at 10:00 AM from Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia.

The presentation occurred at the Treesport store within the “IlGiulia” Shopping Center in Trieste and was introduced by Maurizio De Blasio, the Assessor for Education and Family Policies, in the presence of Francesco di Paola Panteca, President of the Municipal Council.

The press conference, hosted by Stefano Ceiner, featured key figures such as Emilio Porto, President of Apd Miramar; Omar Fanciullo, President of Asd Trieste Atletica Aps and regional councilor for Fidal; Ernesto Mari, delegate of Coni Trieste; Marco Donda, founder and Marketing Director of Treesport; and Carlo Fragiacomo, Ironman and Technical Director of the Treesport Group.

Sending greetings was Pierpaolo Roberti, the Regional Assessor for Local Autonomies, who applauded the decision to donate the entire registration proceeds to the “Burlo Garofolo” Children’s Hospital, specifically for the “La Stanza Rosa” project. This project aims to create a safe and psychologically supportive space for women experiencing various forms of violence.

As highlighted by the organizers, this year’s event continues the tradition of being a celebration of sport intertwined with solidarity. All registration proceeds will be directed towards the “Burlo Garofolo” Children’s Hospital in Trieste, supporting the “La Stanza Rosa” initiative.

The “Bavisela di Natale,” organized by Apd Miramar in cooperation with the Municipality of Trieste and Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, will unfold on Sunday, December 17. Participants, adorned in red, will embark on a 5 km route, combining running and walking, weaving through Cavana, Rive, Campo Marzio, and returning to the iconic Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia.

This sporting event aims to bring together people for a Sunday of celebration with solidarity at its core. Embracing the Christmas spirit, participants are encouraged to dress in red or adorn themselves with Christmas-themed accessories.

For children born between 2019 and 2023, participation is free. Maurizio De Blasio, the Assessor for Education and Family Policies, conveyed greetings on behalf of Elisa Lodi, the Assessor for Real Estate and Sports Policies, emphasizing the city’s commitment to combining sports, physical activity, and well-being with essential social issues.

Stefano Ceiner emphasized that the event, aligned with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, aims to raise awareness and garner public support in the fight against violence towards women—a socially responsible act involving everyone.

Emilio Porto, President of Apd Miramar, expressed gratitude to the outgoing President, the Apd Miramar Board, the Municipality of Trieste, Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, and all participants. He invited the community to gather at Piazza dell’Unità on Sunday at 10:00 AM “to celebrate and enjoy a day of sport and solidarity.”

Martina Debelli, Head of the Obstetric Gynecological Platform, joined in thanks for the substantial collection and provided insights into the “Stanza Rosa” project. As part of the restructuring of the “Burlo Garofolo” spaces, the project aims to offer an intimate space for women experiencing violence from the first moment. She emphasized that the values guiding all sports activities should be focused on respecting not only the female gender but humanity as a whole.

Ernesto Mari, the delegate of Coni Trieste, highlighted the importance of the “proximity between the world of sports and all initiatives in the social realm.” He expressed belief that sports can play a significant role in combating violence against women, emphasizing the fundamental concept of respect in sports activities.
