Mario Cigar kept alive a New Year’s Day tradition in Trieste, despite the cooler weather this 1 January.

Mario Cigar, aged 82, is known to Triestini as the daredevil who goes for a swim every 1st of January.

The dive was done under the gaze of admirers who gathered in Barcola to watch the spectacle.
