Paolo Longo is to replace Francesca Tosi as the choir master of the Verdi Opera theater this upcoming season.

Longo joins the theater with an impressive educational and career background. After ten years of collaboration with Trieste’s Verdi theater, in 1998 Longo moved to France where he worked as a choir director at Opéra National de Lyon, at Théâtre du Châtelet and al Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

During his successful career, Longo had the chance to work with R. Abbado, P. Boulez, B. Campanella, W. Christie, V. Fedoseyev, J.E. Gardiner, G. Gavazzeni, D. Harding, B. Kontarsky, G. Korsten, P. Maag, K. Nagano, S. Ozawa, M. Plasson, G. Prêtre, D. Robertson, E.P. Salonen, N. Santi, compositori come B. Bettinelli, A. Clementi, A. Corghi, Tan Dun, P. Dusapin, H.W. Henze, M. Levinas, G. Manzoni, G. M​orricone, F. Pennisi, and many others.

Longo directed many concerts and productions in France, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, and many others. Being a composer himself, Longo received more than 30 accolades and international recognitions, such as Concorso Grieg in Oslo, Prix Reine Marie José in Geneva, ISCM in Miami, Renée B. Fisher in New Haven, Premio Bucchi in Rome, Académie de Lutèce in Paris, Salvatore Martirano in Chicago.
