Friuli Venezia Giulia’s president Massimiliano Fedriga called for the “utmost caution” as our region became yellow zone on 1 February, with less stringent rules under the tiered system of virus restrictions.
Fedriga said that yellow zone does not mean “escaping danger” and warned that the greatest caution would be required to avoid “going backwards compared to the progress made in recent weeks.”
The president’s warning comes as the local media published images of crowds over the weekend, following the announcement on Friday night that covid-19 restrictions would be eased.
Italy’s commissioner for the coronanvirus emergency, Domenico Arcuri, also sounded the alarm. “The virus has not been defeated but it is still circulating” – said Arcuri – “We must all understand that we cannot lead the normal life we were used to, it is not yet time.”
