The Oct. 18 event in Piazza del Ponterosso will showcase local food, agricultural traditions and products from across Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Eighteen farms from across Friuli Venezia Giulia will gather in Trieste on Sunday, Oct. 18, for the final stop of the 2026 Campagna Amica Tour, an initiative promoting regional food production, biodiversity and direct connections between farmers and consumers.
The event, organized by Coldiretti FVG and Campagna Amica in cooperation with the Municipality of Trieste, will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Piazza del Ponterosso, a square historically associated with the city’s market tradition.
The fourth edition of the tour will bring together agricultural businesses from the mountains, the Friulian and Pordenone plains, the Isontino area and the Gorizia and Trieste Karst. Visitors will be able to purchase and sample regional products and meet the people behind their production.
Serena Tonel, Trieste’s deputy mayor and councilor for economic policy, said the event would highlight the diversity and quality of the region’s food sector, including products associated with the “Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia” regional brand.
The tour returns to the city center after two earlier editions in Piazza Sant’Antonio and last year’s gathering in Piazza del Ponterosso. Previous stops in 2026 included Malga Montasio, Sappada and the Pradis Caves.
Martin Figelj, president of Coldiretti FVG, said Trieste’s international character made it a fitting setting for the tour’s conclusion. The participating farms, he said, would demonstrate how regional agriculture can adapt and innovate while maintaining ties to local traditions.
The 18 businesses represent several distinct agricultural areas. Four come from mountain communities, including Piancavallo and Carnia; nine are based in the Friulian and Pordenone plains; three come from the Isontino area; and two represent the Gorizia and Trieste Karst.
This year’s program also introduces a street-food offering from the Silene agricultural business, allowing visitors to sample local products from a food truck. The service will operate without tables or seating.
The initiative is part of Coldiretti’s broader effort to promote healthy eating and greater awareness of food production. In July, the national Campagna Amica per la Salute project was launched at Trieste’s Maggiore Hospital and Udine’s Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital, alongside initiatives at other hospitals across Italy. The project established a national agreement between farmers and doctors focused on public health.
Organizers said the Ponterosso event would provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn more about regional agriculture, food quality and sustainability.
The event is weather-dependent and will be canceled in the event of bad weather or strong winds.
