A new international performing arts festival, THREADS, will make its debut at Portopiccolo in Sistiana from July 31 to Aug. 2, bringing together musicians, performers and multidisciplinary artists for three days of free events overlooking the Gulf of Trieste.
The festival was presented on Monday at the Còntime Tasting Room in Trieste. Organizers described THREADS as a platform designed to connect artists, audiences and places through a program that spans music, dance, theater, spoken word and hybrid live performances.
Set in Portopiccolo, the seaside development built on the site of a former limestone quarry, the festival aims to use the location as more than a backdrop, integrating its coastal landscape into the performances. Organizers said the initiative seeks to promote cultural exchange by bringing together artists from different backgrounds while highlighting the region’s Mediterranean and Central European influences.
The inaugural program features a range of contemporary and classical-inspired performances. Vocalist Sara Bradaschiaand pianist Marco Ballaben will open the festival with a concert exploring diverse musical repertoires. Composer and pianist Giovanni Renzo will present a solo recital blending neoclassical, minimalist and contemporary influences.
Other performances include pianist and synthesizer player Gabriele D’Alonzo alongside cellist Clara Di Giusto, combining acoustic and electronic sounds. Musician Igor Longhi will collaborate with aerial dancers Ilaria Del Negroand Giulia Sacchi in a site-specific performance incorporating vertical dance into the surrounding landscape.
The program also includes a jazz piano duo by Giovanni Renzo and Giovanni Paolo Favale, centered on improvisation, as well as solo piano recitals by Andrea Tonoli, featuring contemporary and cinematic compositions, and Giovanni Paolo Favale, who will perform a program focused on jazz improvisation.
Admission to all events is free, though attendance is limited and advance registration is required. Booking links and the full festival schedule will be published on the Feel Rouge website and the organization’s social media channels in the coming days.
