Friuli Venezia Giulia is expanding its investment in international entertainment as it seeks to build on record tourism growth and strengthen its global profile.
Regional officials announced that Cirque du Soleil will return to Trieste in June 2027 with ECHO, following the production’s European debut in Milan. The show will run for 40 performances and follows a successful previous engagement that drew visitors from across Italy and abroad.
The announcement comes after a summer marked by major concerts, including performances by Gorillaz and Eiffel 65 in Trieste, reflecting the region’s strategy of attracting visitors through large-scale cultural events.
Governor Massimiliano Fedriga said the region’s tourism promotion has generated significant economic returns, estimating that tourism now contributes more than €400 million annually to the regional economy. He said internationally recognized events not only bring immediate visitor spending but also enhance Friuli Venezia Giulia’s visibility and appeal for future investment.
Regional officials view the return of Cirque du Soleil as another step in positioning Trieste as a destination for major international live entertainment.
