The Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority (AdSP) and the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ARPA FVG) signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday aimed at strengthening environmental oversight of the Port of Trieste’s future development through 2030.
The agreement was signed by AdSP President Marco Consalvo and ARPA FVG Director General Anna Lutman, with Regional Councilor for Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development Fabio Scoccimarro attending the ceremony.
The protocol formalizes a longstanding collaboration between the two organizations, establishing a structured framework for environmental cooperation throughout every stage of port infrastructure projects, from planning and design to construction.
Under the agreement, ARPA FVG will provide environmental expertise from the earliest phases of project development, helping assess potential impacts on air, water and soil before work begins. The approach is intended to identify and address environmental issues early, rather than during the final stages of project approval or construction.
Port Authority officials said the agreement will promote continuous coordination between the two institutions, supporting the port’s expansion while strengthening environmental safeguards and improving the efficiency of the planning process.
