Interviews: Gabriele Cont, President of the Burlo Garofolo Foundation; Elisa Lodi, Trieste Councilor for Real Estate and Sports Policy
The proceeds from the second edition of the charity soccer tournament “Un goal per i bambini del Burlo” (“A Goal for the Children of Burlo”) were officially donated this morning to the Burlo Garofolo Foundation during a ceremony held in the Salotto Azzurro of Trieste’s City Hall.
The initiative raised €20,000, which will support the foundation’s work with children at the Institute for Maternal and Child Health – IRCCS Burlo Garofolo, a leading pediatric hospital and research center in the region.
Mayor Roberto Dipiazza attended the event, along with city councillors Stefano Bernobich and Corrado Tremul, and municipal assessors Elisa Lodi (Real Estate and Sports Policy) and Everest Bertoli (Financial Policy). Also present were Gabriele Cont, president of the Burlo Garofolo Foundation, owners of participating local restaurants — L’Approdo Buffet, Iera Ora Buffet, Al Ciketo, and Buffet 3° Tempo — as well as representatives of the Roianese Calcio amateur football association.
The charity match took place on June 22 at the Nereo Rocco Stadium in Trieste, drawing strong support from the community for its second consecutive year. The event combined sport and solidarity, with the aim of raising funds for children’s health services and promoting social engagement through local partnerships.
