The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has approved a new funding program for 2026 aimed at supporting the planning and design phase of construction projects at buildings housing state-recognized private schools, known in Italy as scuole paritarie.
The initiative, approved by the regional cabinet and established under Regional Law 19/2025, introduces a new form of support for school infrastructure by covering technical and design-related expenses before construction begins. Grants of up to €100,000 will be available for each eligible project.
According to regional officials, the program is intended to help school operators and property owners overcome one of the most significant barriers to infrastructure investment: the cost of preparing technical studies and project designs required before renovation, expansion, or modernization work can proceed.
The funding can be used for feasibility studies, executive project designs, surveys, technical investigations, and other preparatory activities necessary for developing construction plans.
Regional authorities said the measure reflects ongoing support for the private school sector, which forms part of Italy’s publicly recognized education system. Officials noted that many of these schools play an important role in local communities and provide educational services in areas where alternatives may be limited.
Applications may be submitted by public and private owners of buildings that host accredited private schools and meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the call for proposals. To qualify, schools must have enrollment levels at least 50 percent higher than the minimum thresholds established by regional school planning guidelines.
The maximum contribution available is €100,000 per application.
Requests must be submitted electronically to the Regional Directorate for Infrastructure and Territory by September 15, 2026, using forms that will be published on the official website of the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and evaluated according to the order in which they are received.
Additional information, application materials, and documentation will be made available through the region’s school infrastructure section online.
