On Tuesday, February 24, regional authorities in Friuli Venezia Giulia presented a three-year plan to implement a new Code for Commerce and Tourism, backed by €242 million in funding for 2026–2028.
Sergio Emidio Bini, the region’s councillor for productive activities and tourism, outlined the timeline at the Comelli Auditorium before over 450 local officials and business representatives. The Code, approved unanimously in late 2025, is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026 once all implementing regulations are issued.
Initial measures include a tourism fund in March, a temporary “bridge” grant for neighborhood retailers, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises in the tertiary sector by May. Later in the year, funding channels will open for business consortia, historic establishments, and neighborhood shops, alongside updated hotel classification standards.
The reform reduces the legal framework from 567 articles and 29 regulations to 147 articles and 12 regulations, aiming to simplify access to funding and improve support for local businesses and tourism quality.
With more than 200,000 workers in the sector, officials described the plan as a significant step to strengthen Friuli Venezia Giulia’s commercial and tourism infrastructure.
