The 72nd edition of the Muggia Carnival officially begins on Thursday, February 12, with a series of events designed for all ages.

From 3 to 5 p.m., Piazza Marconi will host the Children’s Carnival, offering entertainment for the city’s youngest residents. At 5 p.m., the traditional Ballo della Verdura will open the main festivities, featuring members of the local Carnevale Muggesano groups and live music by the band I Fraieri. During the ceremony, the mayor of Muggia will hand over the city’s symbolic keys to King Carnival, and the crown of last year’s Carnival godmother will be passed to the new 2026 honoree.

Evening events will include “Aperitivo in Musica” in Piazza Marconi starting at 7 p.m., and “Platinum Stage”, a youth-focused music program, in Piazza della Repubblica.

All Carnival events over the coming days, including the Ballo della Verdura, the giant omelette, the Ballo delle Bambole, and the Sunday parade, are free and open to the public. A full schedule is available at carnevaldemuja.com.

Residents of Muggia do not need a QR code to access the city center during Carnival. Non-residents, however, must obtain a QR code to enter the historic center in the evening, after 6 p.m. on weekdays and after 8 p.m. on Sunday. Details are available at pass.visitmuggia.eu.

The city has also published ordinances regarding parking, traffic, and the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on its official website.
