Trieste’s municipal government announced that major technological upgrades to the city’s traffic light system will take place from Monday, February 2, to Friday, February 6, 2026.
Under a public-private partnership with Edison Next, 69 traffic signal controllers will be replaced with modern systems designed to improve efficiency and reliability. During the work, the “green wave” timing—coordinated signals that allow continuous traffic flow along main roads—will be temporarily suspended on affected routes. Officials said the synchronized signal system will be restored as soon as the upgrades are completed.
Local police will be stationed at key intersections to manage traffic and ensure smooth flow while the work is underway.
The city has provided a full schedule of the intersections and traffic lights that will be affected throughout the week.
